CROSS STITCH WORK IN PROGRESS

I really do still cross stitch.  I admit there hasn't been a lot of free time to devote to it lately, but I am hoping to do more.  This is Merry Christmas Sampler from the Stoney Creek Collection 1989 stitched on 14 count Rue Green Aida.

Thanks for looking!

A LITTLE LATE...

Between decorating the house for Christmas and being sick for almost three weeks, I have not felt like adding to my blog.  I did manage to make a few Christmas fobs and get them listed in my Etsy shop.  One of them sold very soon after listing it along with another one that was not Christmas.  Here are the two that sold.

and

I've also been trying to paint some all along.  I have an opportunity to participate in a craft show next fall.  I will have to work hard between now and then to have enough stock to sell.  We'll see!  I also have another craft I've been wanting to try for some time now.  I hope to work on that right after Christmas and see how it goes.  I also have another idea for my Etsy shop that involves painting.  I think it could really take off it works out the way I hope.  Stay tuned for both of these new ventures.  And while I'm not doing anything, I have been trying to get in more cross stitch time and I have to get back to painting more rooms in our new house.  Beige throughout just is not me.  Too boring!

Here is the latest ornament I did.  I think it turned out cute!

Thanks for stopping by!

ORNAMENT

I painted a quick ornament for a family member who needed one for a Dirty Santa swap.  I think he turned out really cute.

(I edited the the picture to give it the snow effect.)

CHRISTMAS

The Christmas decorating has begun.  I'm actually early this year, but thought maybe I could get a head start on things and not be so rushed.  This picture is taken in the sun room.  It is the top of an antique buffet and I decided to to a grouping of Santa's.  I think it turned out kind of cute.

SEASONAL FLAGS

I love seasonal flags. They are so colorful and fun to watch blowing in the wind. The area we moved to is very breezy. We are not sure why; maybe because there are not many trees or because of our close proximity to the Tennessee River. Whatever the reason, it is a great area for flags!

PRODUCTIVE FEW DAYS

The last few days have been very productive. Husband took a couple of days off to install more shelving in our closets.

Here is a picture of my Christmas closet in one of the spare bedrooms. No, this is not all of my Christmas decorations. These are the ones I don't want stored in the garage to get too hot or cold. Now that there is extra shelving in the closet, I was able to get a lot of the boxes up off of the floor.

I even had some time to work on one of my decorative painting projects. I think it has turned out really cute. I had to improvise some on this one. I didn't have the exact sled the project called for, so I had to adjust the pattern somewhat. Here's a picture.

Thanks for looking,

Cool, Rainy Day

Today has been a cool, rainy day in North Alabama. I did a few things around the house that needed to be done. I couldn't decide if it was a day for cross stitching or for painting. For those who don't know, I do some decorative painting. Nothing large, nothing fancy. I had already started a wooden sled that has mittens and holly on it. Of course, I always have a cross stitch project or projects, I should say, going. I decided to paint. I have almost completed the sled so maybe I can post a picture in the next day or so.

CROSS STITCH FINISHES

This piece was done for friends of ours who have
a lake house. It was a fun piece.

I love doing these Welcomes. There is a whole series
of them. I want to do more of these.

A cute Wedding Sampler made for a young couple
back home at Gardendale. We worshipped with her
for many years before she was married.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW HOME

Our new home as of mid-June. We are decorated a little bit for fall. My fall wreath that I had used for many years finally had to be trashed. I kept some things from it that were still in good condition. About a week ago, I felt like we needed a wreath. I pulled out my box from the closet with all the loose goodies and went to the garage and found a bare grapevine wreath. I went to work and after two burns and one ruined fingernail, I had a wreath.

A SHORT TOUR

Welcome to the foyer of our new home. I have finished painting a few rooms. The builder only allowed one interior color and it was just too blah. The foyer is chocolate brown about the color of chocolate milk.

This is a shot of our dining room taken from the great room.

This is where the foyer and dining room meet. You can also see the door to the hallway that leads to the bedrooms. The columns are very tall and needed something visual or architectural on them. I added the sconces and candles and really like how they turned out. With the candles lit, the room looks neat with the glow from the candles.

IT DID BECOME A HOUSE

Well, it has been a while, a long while. It really did become a house. Here it is today.

LOOKS LIKE A HOUSE

It really is looking like a house now. The crews are taking advantage of the long days and great weather we have had. It's raining today so not much will happen I'm sure. They probably will work on the inside though.

WE HAVE WALLS

We have walls. All of the exterior and interior walls are up. The roof trusses are on top but had not been put in place yesterday afternoon. I'm sure that is what they are doing today. The nice weather is certainly working to our advantage.
Check back again for more updates.

WE HAVE LUMBER!!

The lumber has arrived. The construction crew was beginning to assemble with all of their equipment. We expect to see some walls tomorrow when we are there.

WE'RE GETTING CLOSER

We are definitely getting closer. Framing will be next. As we left our lot last night, we passed two big trucks loaded with lumber. I hope they were going to our lot. Terry will go back by today to see if framing has begun.

Like my new wheels? We loaded this van full of boxes. Terry is going back today with another load.

How many boxes can you get in a car, a small pickup truck, and a small trailer.

THIS MANY!

LOTS OF ACTIVITY

A few days can make a lot of difference. I was by our lot yesterday and there wasn't much going on. Terry went by today and the plumbers were there working hard.

CRAFT ROOM

Here is another used piece of furniture that I'm going to use in my craft room when we move to Huntsville. Amazing what a coat of paint will do for an old piece of furniture.

PACKING, PACKING, AND MORE PACKING

I think it is time to get some of these boxes moved to Huntsville. The basement is beginning to look like a warehouse.

The white chest that you can see in the first picture is for my craft room. I purchased it at an antique mall in Pelham. It will either hold my paints and painting supplies or cross stitch supplies.

DIRT HAS BEEN MOVED

I think we can officially say construction has begun. We'll definitely have to stop by more often now.

APPRAISED!

Gardendale house has finally been appraised. I think everything is good to go from what I could tell talking with the man. It has a few more stops to make in the process, but sounds like it will be ready in time to close on 3/31.
